BEHAVIOR POLICY
Please review our Camp Behavior Policy before registering.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellation 14 days or more before the event = 75% refund of the total balance.

Cancellation 8-13 days before the event = 50% refund of the total balance.

Cancellation less than 8 days before the event = 0% refund of the total balance.

There are no refunds for missed days, tardiness, early self-dismissals, or if the camper is dismissed from camp by staff for the reasons described in the behavior policy listed on the Micke Grove Zoo Camp webpage. In the event that weather is severe enough to require cancellation of one or both days of camp as determined by zoo staff, an offer of credit towards another program will be provided.

As long as you contact us 8 or more days before your camp session begins and space is available in the desired class, there is no fee or penalty for transferring from one session to another. However, we can only transfer a registration once. We are unable to make transfers within 8 days of a camp session. Please call (209) 331-2138 to request a transfer.

2014 Summer ZooCamp

Join us for camp on June 16-20, June 23-27, July 7-11, and July 14-18!
Members priority registration: April 1-11. General registration begins April 12.

What's new at ZooCamp this year?

Number of sessions: We are offering three concurrent programs per week of camp (referred to as a "session"). There is one program per age group (ages 4-6, 7-9, and 8-12).

Weekly themes:
I
nstead of offering a different theme for each age group every week (totaling 16 different themes), we've boiled it down to one overall theme for all groups per session. Each program will be tailored up or down per the children's age group. This makes it easier for you to remember the names of the programs you are registering for!

Waitlist: A short waitlist is available for when programs become full.

Multiple session discount:
We are also offering a discount when you register campers for more than one camp. A $5 discount is offered for registering for two sessions, and a $12 discount for registering for both three and four sessions!

To receive the discounts, you must register and pay for each camper in separate transactions (sorry, it's a software glitch).

Session Descriptions

June 16-20  Wildlife Warriors  9AM-12PM CLOSED
In this session, discover the invisibility cloaks, body spears, beauty, and deadly toxins earth's amazing Wildlife Warriors use to hide, defend, and subdue their prey.

June 23-27  Zoo Chefs  9AM-12PM CLOSED
Micke Grove Zoo would like to invite your little Iron Chef to learn the finer points of animal cuisine, with an emphasis on carnivore, herbivore, and omnivore diets. Zoo chefs will learn about proper nutrition for our zoo animals, assist in preparing animal diets, and discover how animals process nutrients from the food they eat. Have your little animal join us on a culinary adventure!

July 7-11  Animal Talk  9AM-12PM CLOSED
Animals "talk" in many different ways. They may vocalize, dance, change color, or even chat with scents! Campers can learn to "listen" to the beasts with their eyes, nose, and ears and "hear" what they are trying to say!

July 14-18  Outrageous Animals  9AM-12PM CLOSED
Faster than a freight train, bigger than two school buses, and more colorful than a rainbow; the planet is full of unique and amazing animals. Come explore the extreme features that animals use to survive and thrive in the wild.

To ensure that your child has the best experience possible during zoo camp, staff and management are asking for the following:

  • Please leave all cameras/cell phones at home (cameras and cell phones can become a distraction to the teacher and students). If your child wants to take pictures, cameras will only be allowed on Fridays, at the Zoo Camp Teacher’s discretion.
  • Please have your child wear comfortable tennis shoes. No open toed shoes or sandals are allowed. Children will be required to sit out activities if they arrive in open toed shoes.
  • Please do not allow your child to bring a lunch to camp. A mid-morning snack will be provided unless your child has specific dietary restrictions (gluten free snacks will be provided to those children whose registrations specifically mention this restriction). Mid-morning snacks typically include: fresh fruit, Chex Mix, graham crackers or Goldfish and water. Please make sure that your child eats a good breakfast before camp.
  • Please do not allow your child to bring money to camp. No purchases will be made before, during, or after camp. We encourage you to come back with your child to visit the Zoo and make purchases.
  • For the safety and well-being of your children, camp staff and zoo campers will adhere to all safety and animal protocol procedures. If you have any questions, please read our behavior policy on the Zoo Camp web page at www.mgzoo.com.
  • Campers will be grouped by age group. In the event that a camp session is being cancelled due to low enrollment, you will be contacted with the option of a refund or a transfer into a different age group.
  • Your parking pass will be e-mailed to you the Friday before camp begins. It is your responsibility to print out this pass and display it when entering Micke Grove Regional Park. Vehicles that do not have the pass will be required to pay the County $5.00 parking fee, so don't forget the pass!
