Fun Animal Facts

Bald eagles have incredible eyesight, several times sharper than that of a person with perfect vision. An eagle flying hundreds of meters above the ground can spot prey over a wide area.

Hunting, declining food sources, poisoning and loss of suitable nesting habitat led to bald eagle protection by both the state and federal laws. These and other conservation efforts have contributed to increasing eagle numbers and removal of the  bald eagle from the endangered species list in 2004.
