Fun Animal Facts

These old world monkeys were the sacred baboons of the Egyptians, often pictured on temples. Highly sociable, they travel and forage in bands of 50 to 100 individuals. The pink calluses covering their hipbones enable them to sit and sleep on hard, rocky surfaces. A direct stare is often considered a threat. To threaten in return, they will raise their eyebrows and partially open their mouths, displaying formidable canines. Their life span is 30 to 40 years.
