Fun Animal Facts
African bullfrogs, also called Pyxie frogs, can become as large as dinner plates. Adult frogs could become 9 inches in length weighing up to 3 pounds. The females are smaller in size than the males. This is a unique characteristic since female frogs are usually larger in size. Pyxie frogs are olive-green in color. You will find calluses on the inner toes on their hind legs. These calluses are used to dig soil. They are great digger and are known to bury themselves during the hot drier months. When the summer months are hot, they estivate (summer sleep). Their calls are usually deep and loud.
